Woman in the Bible + Women Today
Advent/Epiphany Series 2020/2021
Via Zoom - check your church emails for the link!
Led by Rev. Dorothy White

We invite you to join our discussion series based on the book Just a Sister Away: A Womanist Vision of Women's Relationships in the Bible by Renita J. Weems, which examines the way women of the Bible feel about themselves as revealed by their treatment of other women. Weems believes the depiction of strong biblical women offers women of today lessons about how to live more fulfilling lives.
A graduate of Wellesley College with a Master's and PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary, Renita J. Weems is a Hebrew scholar. She has taught Humanities at Spelman College and served as Professor of Biblical Studies and academic dean at American Baptist College. She is a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post and serves as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.
Additional background information and commentary of the biblical story of Ruth can be found here.
