Good Trouble Lives On Rally

Monument Avenue from Willow lawn to Lombardy

Good Trouble Lives On Day is a day of reflection and action honoring the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis, a towering figure in the civil rights movement. The phrase “good trouble” comes from Lewis himself, who urged Americans to speak out against injustice, even if it meant getting into “good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Celebrated on July 17—the anniversary of his passing in 2020—this day invites individuals, communities, and institutions to continue Lewis’s fight for equity, justice, and voting rights. It serves as a call to action: to protest peacefully, to speak truth to power, and to advocate for a more just and inclusive democracy.
