Weekly Bible Study
Wednesday Morning Bible Study (September through June)
Join us to study about the people, places and stories of the Bible. This group will incorporate good biblical scholarship with sound learning principles to help you connect the biblical stories with your own faith journey. Open to all.
Wednesday mornings, 10-11:30 am, in-person
Led by Malinda Collier
You will need a study Bible such as the Oxford Annotated New Revised Standard Version. There are also many free online resources for the Bible readings (a couple of links are below). We incorporate current scholarship on scripture from a variety of authors. From time to time we read current commentary on biblical themes - these usually cost no more than $10 per person.
This fall we will go back to the beginning looking at the book of Genesis using the recently published work by one of our favorites, AJ Levine. During Advent and into Epiphany we walk with Jesus using Elaine Pagels Miracles and Wonders to better understand this amazing teacher. Lent will find us exploring the seasonal scriptures through African American Spirituals using the work of Luke Powery and Cheryl Kirk Duggan with Marilyn Thornton. After that will go back to the New Testament using NT Wright's commentary on the book of Romans to tease out the Pauline message.
