Weekly Bible Study
Wednesday Morning Bible Study (September through June)
Join us to study about the people, places and stories of the Bible. This group will incorporate good biblical scholarship with sound learning principles to help you connect the biblical stories with your own faith journey. Open to all.
Wednesday mornings, 10-11:30 am, in-person
Led by Malinda Collier
You will need a study Bible such as the Oxford Annotated New Revised Standard Version. There are also many free online resources for the Bible readings (a couple of links are below). We incorporate current scholarship on scripture from a variety of authors. From time to time we read current commentary on biblical themes - these usually cost no more than $10 per person.
This fall we will look at the Bible with and without Jesus using the work by one of favorites, AJ Levine with Marc Zvi Brettler. During Advent and Lent we will explore the seasonal scriptures through African American Spirituals using the work of Luke Powery and Cheryl Kirk Duggan with Marilyn Thornton. During Epiphany we'll be reading Marcus Borg's The God we Never Knew. We Had a good time with Living the Questions by Felten and Proctor-Murphy and we will finish off the program year with Bad Girls of the Bible by Barbara Essex.
